A Poem by Thayne Whipple
A Lonely Figure
Feb 4, 2016
A lonely figure
In the sands of time,
Just walking endless
On the paths you find.
In the sands of time,
Just walking endless
On the paths you find.
I see your face, and
Then it disappears,
Into a crowd of
Faces changed by years.
Then it disappears,
Into a crowd of
Faces changed by years.
I call to you, but
You do not respond.
You just continue...
T'ward your great beyond.
You do not respond.
You just continue...
T'ward your great beyond.
And so I sit, and
Wonder who you are.
Why do you haunt me,
Why have you come so far?
Wonder who you are.
Why do you haunt me,
Why have you come so far?
Are you my future,
Are you my past?
Please tell me specter -
What it is thou hast.
Are you my past?
Please tell me specter -
What it is thou hast.
Or will I wander
Endless as you do,
In search of answers
Which I wish I knew.
Endless as you do,
In search of answers
Which I wish I knew.
