A Poem by Thayne Whipple
An Introduction (to a poem I never wrote)
Aug 2, 2015
I'd like to write of things unknown,
Epistles fresh and new.
Of feelings, thoughts, expressions
That are known to very few.
Epistles fresh and new.
Of feelings, thoughts, expressions
That are known to very few.
I would like to write of blessings
And count mine one by one.
To thank my heav'nly Father
As a grateful heav'nly son.
And count mine one by one.
To thank my heav'nly Father
As a grateful heav'nly son.
To expound the holy scriptures
And the gospel truths extol;
So that my words might edify
The tired and weary soul.
And the gospel truths extol;
So that my words might edify
The tired and weary soul.
But alas, I'm just a poet -
And a lousy one at that.
So please forgive my rhyming phrase
For all that it may lack.
And a lousy one at that.
So please forgive my rhyming phrase
For all that it may lack.
