A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Anti Anarchism
Sep 8, 2015
I don't believe that freedom is
To do what e'er you will.
I do not think it was designed
To selfish whims fulfill.
To do what e'er you will.
I do not think it was designed
To selfish whims fulfill.
I don't feel errant actions a
Society maintains;
Reject that prudent law, in fact,
My liberty restrains.
Society maintains;
Reject that prudent law, in fact,
My liberty restrains.
Some thousand years of humankind
Existing on this world,
Have spawned a lot of sovereignties
Whose banners they’ve unfurled.
Existing on this world,
Have spawned a lot of sovereignties
Whose banners they’ve unfurled.
And every one was guided by
A form of civic code.
For under this agreement they
In harmony abode.
A form of civic code.
For under this agreement they
In harmony abode.
But when they tired of it, and
Found out it was a chore;
They picked up all their armies and
Then marched again to war.
Found out it was a chore;
They picked up all their armies and
Then marched again to war.
We struggle to be bound by laws
That other men did write;
But far less detrimental than
A rifle take to fight.
That other men did write;
But far less detrimental than
A rifle take to fight.
I don't condone that blindly we
Corruption should support;
Attempt to overpower us
As honesty purport.
Corruption should support;
Attempt to overpower us
As honesty purport.
I just know that civ'lization
Could justify its name,
If everyone on rules agreed
And faithful played the game.
Could justify its name,
If everyone on rules agreed
And faithful played the game.
