A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Blighted Bay
Jun 21, 2016
The other day, I thought I would
Go swimming at the beach.
But when I walked out on the sand
The lifeguard made a speech.
Go swimming at the beach.
But when I walked out on the sand
The lifeguard made a speech.
He said we could sit in the sand
And look around, you know...
But in the cooling water we
Could not this weekend go.
And look around, you know...
But in the cooling water we
Could not this weekend go.
Bacteria had leaked all out
And spread around the bay.
But in a day or two with luck
We'll swim again, they say.
And spread around the bay.
But in a day or two with luck
We'll swim again, they say.
I only worry that if we
Do not our bay treat right,
It will not be a playground; but
A smelly, ugly sight.
Do not our bay treat right,
It will not be a playground; but
A smelly, ugly sight.
