A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Dear Dolphin
Jan 6, 2016
One thousand miles from my home,
One thousand miles at sea,
Dear dolphin you're a welcome sight.
I'm glad you've come to me.
One thousand miles at sea,
Dear dolphin you're a welcome sight.
I'm glad you've come to me.
Presumably your home is here,
I trust you've not come far.
You know that I'm a stranger here,
Lead onward by a star.
I trust you've not come far.
You know that I'm a stranger here,
Lead onward by a star.
Your knowing nod and playful smile
Diversion do provide.
Go on and play along my wake,
And travel by my side.
Diversion do provide.
Go on and play along my wake,
And travel by my side.
I wonder really what you know,
And if your tongue could speak,
What wondrous tales of the deep
You could, to me, repeat.
And if your tongue could speak,
What wondrous tales of the deep
You could, to me, repeat.
Though prior to a dialogue,
You choose to glide away.
And with an airborne twist and flip,
You signal me good—day.
You choose to glide away.
And with an airborne twist and flip,
You signal me good—day.
