A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Discontent
Nov 8, 2015
Far flung from greater place, I'm sure;
Why else so discontent am I.
And why does heaven so allure?
Why do I yearn to yonder fly?
Why else so discontent am I.
And why does heaven so allure?
Why do I yearn to yonder fly?
If merely molten clay am hewn,
My aspirations might not soar.
Oh yes! I'm more than dust and rain.
I know not what, but much, much more.
My aspirations might not soar.
Oh yes! I'm more than dust and rain.
I know not what, but much, much more.
Once in a quiet, shaded wood,
In contemplation I did stand.
A gentle unheard loving voice
With power did my ear demand.
In contemplation I did stand.
A gentle unheard loving voice
With power did my ear demand.
The message clear - I now know why,
A higher plane I would explore.
These mortal days, are but a test,
For destiny I can't ignore.
A higher plane I would explore.
These mortal days, are but a test,
For destiny I can't ignore.
