A Poem by Thayne Whipple

Eternal Bonds

Jan 22, 2016
Across the altar of the Lord,
I pause to glance at you.
As something in your countenance,
Remarkably is new.
'Though beauty, you have always had,
As viewed within my eyes,
The radiance you now emit
Appears as from the skies.
Eternal bonds of love we make
Together on this day,
As one, beyond these earthly realms,
Forever we will stay.
For comfort in the trials and
To share in victory,
We in this house do covenant
And solemnly agree.
I'll love you then forever from
The bottom of my heart.
Assured that neither life nor death
May ever force us part.
Eternal bonds of love our souls
Entwine on this great day,
As one beyond these earthly realms,
Forever we will stay.
The heavens in their glory sing
Our praises from above.
As we, within this holy house,
Do demonstrate our love.
No longer as mere mortal friends,
But rather man and wife,
As we perfect each other, hand-
In-hand, throughout this life.
And then when our probation's o'er
And dust is laid to dust,
As in the Lord's redeeming pow'r
We place our hope and trust.
United once again we'll stand
In our eternal reign,
To bask in our unbounded love,
Celestial peace obtained.
Eternal bonds of love we make
Together on this day,
As one, beyond these earthly realms,
Forever we will stay.
For comfort in the trials and
To share in victory,
We in this house do covenant
And solemnly agree.
I'll love you then forever from
The bottom of my heart.
Assured that neither life nor death
May ever force us part.
Eternal bonds of love our souls
Entwine on this great day,
As one beyond these earthly realms,
Forever we will stay.
