A Poem by Thayne Whipple

If you ask me why I'm free
Of some female company,
I'll surely on her head the blame imply.
Of some female company,
I'll surely on her head the blame imply.
As in the past I've failed,
In competition paled.
I'm sure her future answers will be "no."
In competition paled.
I'm sure her future answers will be "no."
I suppose I likely would,
If I halfway thought she could,
Respond with an affirmative reply.
If I halfway thought she could,
Respond with an affirmative reply.
But being that I'm me.
And knowing she is she.
I fear the odds particularly low.
And knowing she is she.
I fear the odds particularly low.
Thus to avoid a fall,
I will opt to her not call.
But rather sit alone in misery.
I will opt to her not call.
But rather sit alone in misery.
