A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Freedom of Thought
Jul 10, 2015
Although you may my ankles bind,
Around my wrists your chains do wind;
I'll never truly be confined.
For you can never stay my mind.
Around my wrists your chains do wind;
I'll never truly be confined.
For you can never stay my mind.
My thoughts may go where e'er they will-
My deepest fantasies fulfill.
Although my body lies here still.
Ideas, you may not ever kill.
My deepest fantasies fulfill.
Although my body lies here still.
Ideas, you may not ever kill.
I, to the dungeon you may send.
In vain you try my will to rend,
But always, I'll my dreams defend.
And thus this poem I will end.
In vain you try my will to rend,
But always, I'll my dreams defend.
And thus this poem I will end.
