A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Have You Heard?
Apr 15, 2016
She told me that she had some news
To share with me today.
Then without hesitation, she
Did voice her thoughts and say:
To share with me today.
Then without hesitation, she
Did voice her thoughts and say:
“We’re going to have a baby;
I don’t know when or where.
But since you’ll have to change its pants,
I thought you might just care.”
I don’t know when or where.
But since you’ll have to change its pants,
I thought you might just care.”
To some a revolution or,
An earthquake, or a fire,
Would on the nightly evening news
A bulletin require.
An earthquake, or a fire,
Would on the nightly evening news
A bulletin require.
But never in my life have I
Heard such a wond’rous fact.
And I could hardly manage to
My senses keep intact.
Heard such a wond’rous fact.
And I could hardly manage to
My senses keep intact.
And so we grasped each other tight,
We might have even cried;
In reverence to this blessed day,
And what she held inside.
We might have even cried;
In reverence to this blessed day,
And what she held inside.
