A Poem by Thayne Whipple
I Wonder
Oct 13, 2015
I wonder,
Shall I wander
Over all this earthly sphere;
Shall I wander
Over all this earthly sphere;
And never
Find the answers,
'Though I search both far and near?
Find the answers,
'Though I search both far and near?
Perplexing
And unnerving
It increasingly does seem.
And unnerving
It increasingly does seem.
Like falling,
Ever falling
In a re-occurring dream.
Ever falling
In a re-occurring dream.
I wish to
Know the future.
What will happen in advance;
Know the future.
What will happen in advance;
Destiny
Within my view,
That each step won't be by chance.
Within my view,
That each step won't be by chance.
But the years,
Ever passing,
Do now seem to hold the clue.
Ever passing,
Do now seem to hold the clue.
The present,
Not the future,
Will decide what I will do.
Not the future,
Will decide what I will do.
For answers
Sought to questions
Which are yet to be discussed.
Sought to questions
Which are yet to be discussed.
Will never
Be uncovered,
‘Though in them we may trust.
Be uncovered,
‘Though in them we may trust.
Then plainly,
Ever plainly,
As we on our course do stay;
Ever plainly,
As we on our course do stay;
The answers,
For the questions,
Will surely come our way.
For the questions,
Will surely come our way.
