A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Jealousy
Sep 4, 2015
She to another, I do find
Does seem a trifle more inclined.
It's not a new scenario.
But once again it's time to go.
Does seem a trifle more inclined.
It's not a new scenario.
But once again it's time to go.
And so to where the shadows loom,
In distant corners of the room;
I'll hastily make quick retreat.
And there in darkness take my seat.
In distant corners of the room;
I'll hastily make quick retreat.
And there in darkness take my seat.
I cannot bear to see her face,
Her shining radiance and grace.
Espec'lly when she takes his hand
And when embracing they do stand.
Her shining radiance and grace.
Espec'lly when she takes his hand
And when embracing they do stand.
It makes no sense why I should be
In such a state of misery.
When those who know, have all told me
"More fish there are within the sea."
In such a state of misery.
When those who know, have all told me
"More fish there are within the sea."
But feeble minds like mine, you see,
Do not with rationality
React to things emotional,
But rather lose complete control.
Do not with rationality
React to things emotional,
But rather lose complete control.
My flesh is turning shades of green.
I never such a sight have seen.
It's awful when so helplessly
I prey do fall to jealousy.
I never such a sight have seen.
It's awful when so helplessly
I prey do fall to jealousy.
