A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Lessons Learned
Feb 16, 2016
My daughter is a charming lass
And now is nearly one.
Please have a seat, and rest, so I
Can tell you what I’ve done.
And now is nearly one.
Please have a seat, and rest, so I
Can tell you what I’ve done.
You see she got the Clorox out
And almost took a drink.
But I grabbed it rather swiftly
And then I stopped to think.
And almost took a drink.
But I grabbed it rather swiftly
And then I stopped to think.
I read in some swell magazine
How children are so mild;
That we should never smack them, no
Not even if they’re wild.
How children are so mild;
That we should never smack them, no
Not even if they’re wild.
But rather, I sat down with her
And told her all about
The health aspects of drinking bleach –
I abstinence did tout.
And told her all about
The health aspects of drinking bleach –
I abstinence did tout.
We discussed all the factors. For
Assurances I plead.
And she made some strange gurgling sound
And nodded with her head.
Assurances I plead.
And she made some strange gurgling sound
And nodded with her head.
I think she learned the lesson too -
From bleach she now refrains.
For now she’s rather partial to
The stuff for cleaning drains.
From bleach she now refrains.
For now she’s rather partial to
The stuff for cleaning drains.
