Looking For Company

Dec 4, 2015
Is it beauty past description —
The quality I seek?
The intelligence of Einstein,
Or a disposition meek?
Would it help if she had talents,
If she could dance ballet?
Or if she could a portrait paint,
Perhaps enact a play?
If she an occupation had -
Accountant, engineer?
If she could cook and clean and sew?
Were wealthy without peer?
If she had all these attributes
And maybe several more —
Should I think her worth my while, to
Relinquish freedom for?
The answer makes such little sense,
Although I know it's true.
Hence without explanation,
I will share my thoughts with you.
The heart does not read resumes.
Emotions heed not facts.
It is not to simple logic
To which my love reacts.
But one day when she walks my way,
And simply says "hello.“
If with her I'll forever stay,
Immediately I'll know.
