A Poem by Thayne Whipple

Lowly Seed

Nov 23, 2015
From lowly seed, when careful sown,
The mighty tree in time is grown.
The drops of melting glacier field,
Does in its course a river yield.
As tiny tillers great ships steer
Back to their sheltered home port pier.
And thus it goes, though small in size
A larger end they realize.
So please remember this I ask,
Before commencing any task:
When visions of grand things you scheme
Or planning out a lifelong dream;
Without providing great detail
Your brilliant plan will soon derail.
For no one cares how grand the scale,
Without the little things, ‘twill fail.
And likewise don't discount the worth
Of all the smaller things on earth.
For value's such a vaguery
Before the end result we see.
