A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Rabbit Test
Apr 8, 2016
I thought that I was pregnant,
And wished to ascertain
If I should call the doctor -
And brace myself for pain?
And wished to ascertain
If I should call the doctor -
And brace myself for pain?
I wandered to the market,
A dozen tests to buy.
(I thought I'd need the practice -
Don't ask, I don't know why.)
A dozen tests to buy.
(I thought I'd need the practice -
Don't ask, I don't know why.)
It's just like high school chemistry.
There's test tubes, cups and more.
I think there's a diploma too,
If on the test you score.
There's test tubes, cups and more.
I think there's a diploma too,
If on the test you score.
It's easier than drawing blood.
A lot less painful too.
You just put urine in a cup,
And watch the strip turn blue.
A lot less painful too.
You just put urine in a cup,
And watch the strip turn blue.
May mother told me way back when,
A thousand years ago,
They used to kill a rabbit ...
I thought you'd like to know.
A thousand years ago,
They used to kill a rabbit ...
I thought you'd like to know.
But then because of activists
They found another way.
I guess perhaps it's nicer,
Whatever works ... they say.
They found another way.
I guess perhaps it's nicer,
Whatever works ... they say.
