A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Rhyme
Dec 10, 2015
Some think it not too easy
To write a theme in rhyme;
To organize a meter,
And fit the words in time.
To write a theme in rhyme;
To organize a meter,
And fit the words in time.
They say to write a poem,
In fact is awf’lly hard.
And admiration follows
The writing of a bard.
In fact is awf’lly hard.
And admiration follows
The writing of a bard.
But I, the situation,
Do now with thought review.
I think I'll pen a couple thoughts
To share results with you:
Do now with thought review.
I think I'll pen a couple thoughts
To share results with you:
The fact is, poets often
The english language bend.
They'll often cut and splice their words,
The rules of grammar rend.
The english language bend.
They'll often cut and splice their words,
The rules of grammar rend.
But more than that, cohesive thought
Is often set aside.
Although my purpose is not to
The poets work deride.
Is often set aside.
Although my purpose is not to
The poets work deride.
It's simply that I rather think
That even you or I
Could write a piece of poetry -
If we were pleased to try.
That even you or I
Could write a piece of poetry -
If we were pleased to try.
