A Poem by Thayne Whipple

Seashell

Mar 10, 2016
Now, every seashell on the shore
Did once a home provide,
To some small creature of the deep -
A place to sleep and hide.
A refuge from the raging storm,
Relief from cold, and more;
It offered some protection from
Each threat'ning predator.
So every time you pick one up
And hold it in your hand -
Please ponder who once lived there
Underwater, in the sand.
