A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Shades of Gray
Aug 14, 2015
The world, some say, is black and white.
And I suppose 'tis true,
With limited perspective, or
A narrow point of view.
And I suppose 'tis true,
With limited perspective, or
A narrow point of view.
To some there is a right and wrong,
There is no other way.
Enforcing their morality;
They do not ever stray.
There is no other way.
Enforcing their morality;
They do not ever stray.
Now, I won't write there is no wrong.
Nor will I thus dismiss
The presence of a moral right.
My point is simply this:
Nor will I thus dismiss
The presence of a moral right.
My point is simply this:
In the spectrum of the colors
Are many shades and hues.
And from this vast selection, with
Discretion, we may choose.
Are many shades and hues.
And from this vast selection, with
Discretion, we may choose.
There are limits. There are guidelines;
And truths we can't deny.
However, many avenues
Are there for us to try.
And truths we can't deny.
However, many avenues
Are there for us to try.
For some things matter little, from
A more eternal view.
To show this, I'll a question pose
And prove my point to you:
A more eternal view.
To show this, I'll a question pose
And prove my point to you:
In the morning when you wake up
And crawl out of your bed,
Should you firstly opt to brush your teeth
Or wash your face instead?
And crawl out of your bed,
Should you firstly opt to brush your teeth
Or wash your face instead?
