Silent Soliloquy

Jul 27, 2015
Should I have a wond'rous thought
Or answer for a question sought;
Would throngs of people gather near
Or would it fall on deafened ear?
If I did paint a masterpiece
Or found a way, a war to cease,
Should I, with the world share —
Or do you think they'd really care?
No, I'm afraid that jaded we
Have grown as a society.
And so absorbed within our sphere,
That rare another’s thoughts we hear.
Thus I alone content must be
To revel in tranquility;
While singing my soliloquy,
Singing for no one but me.
