A Poem by Thayne Whipple

Start

Aug 17, 2015
The pathway to a mountain peak
Goes through a valley, 'cross a creek.
And ev'ry climber first steps take,
Before they can a summit make.
A boat that crosses o'er the sea,
Does first the harbor have to flee.
Its sails unfurl, its anchor raise
Before upon a new coast gaze.
A painter first her paint does mix.
A drummer must pick up his sticks.
A chef must take in hand a knife,
And so it seems to be in life;
If you aspire to something more,
you have to first walk through the door.
Success, it's true, can be an art.
The secret though, is just to start.
Inspired by:
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started."
Mark Twain
