A Poem by Thayne Whipple
The Faith
Oct 4, 2015
To have the faith that Moses had, to cause the Red Sea part;
Or even of a mustard seed placed deep within my heart.
With faith I could great mountains move, and miracles perform.
Impart the blind their vision, and could tame the savage storm.
With faith I would possess the key, the power of the Lord;
The key to that great treasure house where blessings all are stored.
Or even of a mustard seed placed deep within my heart.
With faith I could great mountains move, and miracles perform.
Impart the blind their vision, and could tame the savage storm.
With faith I would possess the key, the power of the Lord;
The key to that great treasure house where blessings all are stored.
With faith within me, I could climb the highest peak.
With faith within me, I could find all that I seek.
For faith is power given freely from above -
To conquer all our enemies and spread the cause of love.
With faith within me, I could find all that I seek.
For faith is power given freely from above -
To conquer all our enemies and spread the cause of love.
But I, oh Lord, in weakness stand, an humbled lowly lamb.
And of these great and noble feats, quite undeserving am.
A sinner in Thine eyes I fear, ‘though good works I do try.
And for the great Redeemers blood, I in my garden cry.
But I shall not relinquish hope, and trust in Thy great love.
As grace and mercy Thou dost send, from Thy great realm above.
With faith within me, I could climb the highest peak.
With faith within me, I could find all that I seek.
For faith is power given freely from above —
To conquer all our enemies and spread the cause of love.
With faith within me, I could find all that I seek.
For faith is power given freely from above —
To conquer all our enemies and spread the cause of love.
So I thank my Heav'nly Father, each morning as I pray;
For the faith I have to wake up and face another day.
The faith I have to earn my keep, to buy my daily bread.
To overcome temptation and to choose the right instead.
And so if I, each week or so, a bit more faith do gain,
Perhaps my own celestial crown I will one day obtain.
For the faith I have to wake up and face another day.
The faith I have to earn my keep, to buy my daily bread.
To overcome temptation and to choose the right instead.
And so if I, each week or so, a bit more faith do gain,
Perhaps my own celestial crown I will one day obtain.
