The Season

Dec 6, 2015
An odd phenomenon I've found,
Is as each year does roll around;
The advent of the Christmas season
Comes sooner, for whatever reason.
Not only does it fill December,
But very nearly all November.
And soon we'll dress on Halloween
Like the plumb sugar fairy queen.
Now bells and toys and Santa Clause
In mid July may give one pause
But as I see it, all is well,
The simple reason, I will tell;
These holidays, it seems, my friend
Do peace, goodwill and mercy send,
To all the people of the earth
And fill the world with love and mirth.
So if on January first
The season on the world did burst
And lasted throughout all the year
With 'biding Christmas joy and cheer,
I think it would be quite a boon.
And let us pray it happens soon.
