The Toxic Inhalers of Planetoid Zim

Apr 26, 2016
Just three light years away and a few miles more,
There's a planet called Zim in the orbit of Zor.
Now it used to be pleasant to visit that sphere,
But now hardly anyone ever goes near.
The beaches are white and the water is warm
And tourists would flock there, they'd come in a swarm.
But some years ago, if my brain's working right,
Began a most tragic, lamentable plight.
When a fellow with brains, just the size of a pea
Did drink toxic waste, for its outcome to see.
He then turned quite green, an unusual hue,
And then everyone tried it, no, not just a few.
They all drank toxic waste, 'cause it made them turn green -
Not a neon or forest, but aqua-marine.
Now the king, he was outraged, and firmly decreed,
That all would be punished who did this strange deed.
But they did continue, and some rumors did bloom,
Yes, that even the king drank it up in his room.
But the stores couldn't sell it, well that was the law.
You just only could buy it from gangsters you saw.
And they sold so much that they all got quite rich,
And they killed anybody they thought was a snitch.
To make toxic waste, they built sev’ral reactors
And this caused some other quite dreadful bad factors.
Because ev'ry so often one might just explode,
And the people would die as they walked down the road.
But the gangsters just kept on, they weren't gonna stop.
And the tourism industry suffered a drop.
Because if you went there, one quickly would learn,
Well, the chances were good you might never return.
It is here that my story does really begin
Of a small little creature named Sally Z. Prim.
Now our Sally was tiny, but had a big brain,
And she was the only one there that seemed sane.
When she went on her walks, which she did ev'ry day,
All the people would tease her and loudly would say;
"Dear Sally please try some, you can be green like us!"
But she couldn't see what could be the big fuss.
So she asked why they drank it, they said, "Cause its cool."
And the shocked litle girl answered, "I'm not a fool."
As the medical research declares that its bad,
And its stupid to die on behalf of a fad.
But they wouldn't stop, cause they had so much fun.
And they loved to turn greeen while they sat in the sun.
Then one day it happened - you thought that it might.
I saw it myself and it was quite a sight.
As each one of the people who drank toxic waste
In the sun melted into a pool of green paste.
Yes they each just became a small pool of green slime,
And it happened to each of them, one at a time.
When the first ones dissolved, they just thought it was funny,
But no one enjoys turning liquid and runny.
Then everyone yelled and they shouted and cried,
Until they felt oozy and squishy inside.
'Til soon Sally had to start wearing galoshes,
And rather than comments, she only heard sploshes.
And soon there was no one on planetoid Zim -
Except for, of course, our enchanting Miss. Prim.
The last time I stopped by the planet of Zim,
I saw Sally cleaning the beach for a swim.
And soon I am sure that it will be quite pretty ...
A beautiful beach with a bright shiny city.
And the tourists will come as they used to come once,
And Sally will profit, for she's not a dunce!
