A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Tradewind
Aug 7, 2015
I wonder if there's one who knows
The source from where the tradewind blows.
That font of airy cool retreat
From tropic sun and summer heat.
The source from where the tradewind blows.
That font of airy cool retreat
From tropic sun and summer heat.
The breeze that with it memories bring
Of younger days and love in spring.
For as it blows from island shores
It soothes the day and youth restores.
Of younger days and love in spring.
For as it blows from island shores
It soothes the day and youth restores.
Oh tradewind, blow my way today.
And ‘though I know you may not stay,
Please leave with me a fragrance sweet
And take my love to all you meet.
And ‘though I know you may not stay,
Please leave with me a fragrance sweet
And take my love to all you meet.
Oh fabled wind of bygone date,
I know from where you emanate
Must be indeed a wond'rous place
Replete with beauty love and grace.
I know from where you emanate
Must be indeed a wond'rous place
Replete with beauty love and grace.
So if there's one who knows the source
I wish for me he'd chart the course.
Then for the place where tradewinds blow
I'd pack my bags and off I'd go.
I wish for me he'd chart the course.
Then for the place where tradewinds blow
I'd pack my bags and off I'd go.
