A Poem by Thayne Whipple

White

Jul 28, 2015
White as Angels, fallen snow,
Brides and Buttons, Ribboned Bow,
Pure and Soft as fluffy cloud,
Dreams of Heaven shared aloud,
Flowers blooming o'er the land,
Water falling, coral sand,
Glist'ning mountain top at dawn,
Fresh and clean, the tail of fawn,
Swans out floating in a pair,
Lily petal, Arctic bear,
Cauliflower, milk and cream,
'Taters, sugar, salt and steam,
Flour, short’ning, bakers dough,
Kitchen counters' shining glow,
Stucco, walls and paper ream,
Hospitals and lights that gleam,
Even presidential home,
Color of Alaska's Gnome,
Padded cells and teeth and socks,
Shirts and suits and old folk’s locks.
’Though I try with all my might,
All I see around me — White.
