A Poem by Thayne Whipple
Yellow
Sep 9, 2015
Yellow is a color bright,
Like a flashing caution light,
Like a flashing caution light,
Mustard, egg yolk, lions, corn,
Newspaper that's old and worn,
Newspaper that's old and worn,
Goldenrod and fireman's clothes,
Half a bee and Texas rose,
Half a bee and Texas rose,
Coward's belly, fire’s glow,
And some non—edible snow,
And some non—edible snow,
Dandelions, hair that's fair,
Slickers in the rain you wear,
Slickers in the rain you wear,
Baby chicks and cheddar cheese,
Could you pass the butter please?
Could you pass the butter please?
Sunflowers that turn and sway,
Sunshine bright throughout the day;
Sunshine bright throughout the day;
Goldfish and Canary wings,
Why, there's just so many things -
Why, there's just so many things -
Ripe bananas, post—it notes,
Legal pads for writing quotes,
Legal pads for writing quotes,
Jaundiced skin, papaya, gosh,
Duck feet, Bird's beak, summer squash
Duck feet, Bird's beak, summer squash
Deadly fever, lemon rind,
Yellow’s all that's on my mind.
Yellow’s all that's on my mind.
